When the pandemic first broke out, my brother suggested I watched a little something called anime. "That’s for nerds," I said, "no thanks." But he convinced me.

Hearing the opening music to Attack on Titan (followed by countless others), I fell in love with the Japanese language--specifically and especially, the nuance that you can add to music and the way the syllables sound coming out of your mouth.

In the years since, my favorite thing to do still is to translate songs and find out how they can be best used in English. I still dream of voice acting in Tokyo, and if I ever work up the courage to make the music myself, I think mine would be half in Japanese and half in English.
